A-STAR student Charlotte Burchill may not have taken the final year A-level examinations, but there was no doubt how hard she and other students had worked at The Sixth Form Bolton.

The 18-year-old said: "It has been really strange, I had worked really hard for the past two years and it was sort of anti-climax really, it all came to nothing.

"It was weird getting grades in this way but I know if I had done the exams I would have done as well as I have done today.

"For the past two years we have been doing constant assessments each term,so I knew what I would get because the evidence is there and the college has been fantastic in supporting me."

Charlotte achieved two A*s in English literature and history ad an A in drama and theatre studies.

She said "I did sleep but I woke up really early though, a bit of nerves."

Charlotte is now going to Lancaster University to study history and international relations.
