Police have warned drivers to make sure they have an up-to-date MOT certificate after they stopped a Land Rover with an expired MOT on Moss Bank Way.

The car was found to have a a certificate which expired in February this year and the driver was issue with a traffic offence report (TOR).

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all drivers were given a six month extension of their vehicle's test certificate.

But the extension only applied to vehicles with MOTs which expired between March 30 and July 31, to ensure garages were freed up for work on essential worker's cars and prevent unnecessary road travel.

Greater Manchester Traffic police said on Twitter: "We stopped this Land Rover on Moss Bank Way, Bolton.

"The MOT expired February 2020 and a TOR was issued.

"Remember the extension of test certificates only applies to vehicles with MOTs expired between March 30 and July 31 2020.
