RATE of coronavirus infections in Bolton has fallen slightly, new figures show ­— but have increased else where in Greater Manchester.

The figures based on Public Health Data, are for the seven days to August 14.

They are based on tests carried out in laboratories ­— pillar one of the Government’s testing programme ­— and in the wider community, known as pillar two testing.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

In Bolton , the infection rate currently stands at 26.1, with 75 new cases reported compared to the previous seven days to August 7. The infection rate then was 28.9, with 83 cases.

Manchester recorded a week on week jump ­— Manchester up from 34.4 to 46.8, with 259 new cases.

In Oldham the rate has fallen slightly from 94.5 to 91.5, with 217 new cases.

Neighbouring Bury has also seen a spike in the infection rate.

Across the border Blackburn with Darwen, the rate has increased from 80.2 to 86.8 with 130 new cases, making it the third in the country for the high infection rate.

Data for the most recent three days, August 15-17, has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.
