Due to a landslip there are no trains running between Leyland and Bolton as the line is blocked.

The disruption is expected to last until 4pm and coaches have been put on from Preston going to Bolton.

Delays and cancellations are expected to trains running through Buckshaw Parkway, Adlington Lancashire, Chorley, Lostock, Horwich Parkway and Blackrod.

A rail replacement service will run from Preston to Bolton calling at all stations at 10 minutes past the hour and 20 minutes to the hour.

From Bolton to Preston the service will stop at all stations on the hour and at half past the hour.

Network rail staff are currently clearing the blockage, caused by the severe weather last night.

Northern Rail said on Twitter: "Due to a landslip no trains can run between Leyland and Bolton in this direction only.

"Buckshaw Parkway, Adlington Lancashire, Chorley, Lostock, Horwich Parkway and Blackrod will not be served.

"Network Rail staff are working to clear the line, however disruption is now expected until 4pm August 26 whilst repairs are made.

"Road transport will replace trains as follows: Preston to Bolton calling all stations at 10 past the hour and 40 past the hour.

"Bolton to Preston calling all stations at  on the hour and 30 past the hour.

"Run by S Line Travel, Coastal Coaches and Express Travel."
