Crews called to nuisance bin fire behind Bolton houses

Crews from Bolton Central station were called to the rear of the houses on Brandwood Street at 4.45am this morning after a recycling bin was set alight.

Although firefighters were only on scene for ten minutes, the call tied up resources which could have been needed elsewhere.

Crew Manager Berry said: "These kind of fires put pressure on our resources that could have been needed for a more serious incident.

"They leave us unable to attend if there is an emergency which can be very dangerous."

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have previously urged residents to bring their bins back onto their property after they have been collected, and to store them securely.
