THE thoughts of residents on plans to make Westhoughton, Astley Bridge and Crompton safer and more active are now being considered by Bolton Council.
The council gave people up to yesterday to have their say on proposals for the £5.8m Westhoughton and £9m Astley Bridge and Crompton Active Neighbourhood schemes.
The schemes have been developed as part of the Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham's £160m Cycling and Walking Challenge Fund.
The plans' schemes for the areas include the following proposals:
• traffic calming, new signage and road surface markings.
• new and upgraded pedestrian and cycle crossings on both residential roads and main roads.
• changes to the traffic priority on some residential streets to support pedestrians and cyclists.
• segregated cycle routes and upgrading footpaths.
Following a development phase, the council will seek the funding needed to bring each scheme forward for implementation.
