NEW figures have revealed which areas in Bolton have seen new cases of coronavirus.

Data released by Public Health England has been used by the Office for National Statistics to create a map of each reported case of covid-19 across the UK.

The figures, which show confirmed cases of coronavirus for people who were tested between August 21 and August 27, show each case by Middle Super Output Area, geographical areas of around 7,200 people.

A total of 78 cases have been reported in the borough during that time according to this map, although areas with one or two confirmed cases will not have any data shown.

The statistics show the areas of Breightmet South and Darcy Lever, and Rumworth North had the most new cases in Bolton, with eight people testing positive in each MSOA.

Farnworth North, Tonge, Lever Edge, and Central Bolton were all tied with the second highest number of new cases, with six residents in each area testing positive for the virus.

Breightmet North, Daubhill and Fernhill Gate, and Rumworth South each saw five new cases, whilst Little Lever and Gilnow and Victory reported four new cases each.

Five areas – Springfield and Great Lever, Harper Green, Lostock and Ladybridge, Hall I' th' Wood, and Eagley and Sharples – each saw three residents testing positive for the virus.

No figures were available for the remaining areas, which may mean that they reported zero, one, or two new cases of covid-19.
