BARCLAYS has confirmed its Westhoughton bank will close on Friday, November 27.
In a letter sent to customers, the bank has set out the main reasons for the closure of the bank on Market Street.
It states that although the number of transactions has gone up in the previous 24 months, 82% of the branch’s customers also use other ways to do their banking such as online and by telephone.
Customers using other ways to do their banking has increased by 22% since 2012 and in the past 12 months, 36% of the branch’s customers have been using nearby branches.
Barclays add that they have identified that only 213 customers use the branch exclusively for their banking.
The letter suggests existing customers use other branches in Bolton, Leigh or Wigan, all of which are less than six miles away.
