ONE more patient has died in Bolton after contracting coronavirus.

Figures released by Public Health England confirmed that one more patient death at the Royal Bolton Hospital has been linked to coronavirus.

The patient passed away on Monday, but their death was recorded in official statistics today.

It is one of seven deaths at hospitals across England which were reported today.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust also reported one new coronavirus-related death.

The patient being cared for there died on August 28.

A total of 232 people have now died in the borough's hospital after contracting the virus.

The latest death was recorded as the government announced that lockdown restrictions in Bolton would not be lifted – 12 hours after the change was supposed to come into effect.

A ban on residents meeting other households inside a private home or garden, or interacting with members of other households in establishments like pubs and restaurants continues.
