WITH complaints growing about people being unable to get coronavirus tests we decided to see how easy it is to book one.
As Bolton has the highest infection rate in the country we used postcodes from the town to access the online booking system.
We followed the procedure to see which testing centres we would be offered but resolved to stop short of actually booking either a drive-in or home test so that we did not take an unnecessary appointment.
But while very few cars were turning up at the Moor Lane testing centre today in Bolton, we were not offered ANY appointment there or anywhere else in the country.
At 1.30pm we accessed the government test appointment booking site at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test and answered the questions stating we are from Bolton and have had coronavirus symptoms for three days.
But the answer returned was that there are no testing sites available.
After trying for a drive-in site appointment we changed the request to asking for a walk-in appointment, with the same result.
Two hours later we repeated the process but with no more success.
