A TOWN centre bar which was temporarily closed after police visited following reports of a party will "continue to be monitored" when the coronavirus restrictions are eased.

Officers were sent to The Bar on Nelson Square on Friday, September 4 after reports of a party taking place there.

Police said “advice was given” and the bar was shut for the night. And last week the force confirmed that the bar was given a £100 fixed penalty notice.

After a spike in covid-19 cases in the town bars can only operate as a takeaway and not serve customers between 10pm and 5am.

A Bolton Council spokesman said: "All licensed premises are currently closed in accordance with the Government rules.

“When the restrictions ease, we will continue to monitor The Bar, working together with Greater Manchester Police. If there are further issues of non-compliance, we will not hesitate to take action.”
