New figures have revealed the number of coronavirus cases in each area of Bolton. 

Across Bolton's 35 areas, Westhoughton West recorded less than two new infections between September 10 and 16. 

The figures were released by Public Health England, and detail confirmed cases of covid-19 for people tested between August 30 and September 5 by Middle Super Output Area, geographical areas of around 7,200 people.

Chris Green, elected official for Bolton West, said he finds it frustrating to see his constituency placed under the current restrictions, as the number of cases in the area remains quite low.

He said: "It's very frustrating, and increasingly so as people follow what the scientists are saying.

"We're seeing hardly any positive tests in the area so why are we suffering?

"It's damaging businesses and people's lives and we're seeing more and more people coming forward to say how they've been affected."

Mr Green's constituency has recorded 96 cases - including six in Atherton North. His constituency also covers half of Heaton and Deane, which has recorded 26 cases that have not been included in the total.

Yasmin Qureshi's constituency of Bolton South East includes the other half of Heaton and Deane, and 249 confirmed cases.

It also covers half of Gilnow and Victory, Central Bolton, Tonge, and Breightmet South and Darcy Lever - which have reported 17, 17, 26, and 14 cases respectively, which have not been included in this total.

Mark Logan's area of Bolton North East includes the other half of those areas, and an additional 114 cases.

Kearsley and Stoneclough continues to be the hardest hit area, with 32 new infections, whilst Harper Green, with 29 new cases, is following close behind.

Tonge, Heaton and Deane, Farnworth South, and Highfield and New Bury have all reported 26 new cases.

On the other end of the scale, Doffcocker and Moss Bank has reported the second-lowest number of new infections, at just three.
