A CONVICTED sex offender was found in possession of indecent images of children.

Blackburn magistrates heard Andrew James Williams was awaiting sentence for making and distributing indecent images of children when police carried out a home visit and examined his phone.

An officer who viewed one video said it was the worst she had seen in three years on the unit that police such matters.

Williams, 32, of Lyndhurst Road, Burnley, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing indecent images of children. He was sent in custody to be sentenced at Burnley Magistrates on October 16.

Adam Bonney, prosecuting, said Williams appeared in court on September 10 and pleaded guilty to making and distribution of indecent images of children. He was committed on bail to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced.

He said police did a home visit on September 17 when they found the latest images on the defendant’s phone.

Philip Turner, defending, said the offences post-dated his client being remanded on bail. “He has instructed me not to make an application for bail today,” said Mr Turner.
