MANCHESTER City legend Paul Lake is relishing the challenge of helping Bolton stay in the Premier League after joining the backroom team.
Lake, whose career was cruelly cut short by a succession of knee injuries, will start working as a physiotherapist in Wanderers' medical department within the next fortnight.
The 39-year-old has spent the past five years at League Two side Macclesfield and becomes reunited with Bolton boss Gary Megson.
One of the game's most promising young players of his time, Lake played with Megson at Maine Road.
"I can't wait to get started and it's an excellent opportunity for me to progress my career further," he said. "A lot of people have left since Sam Allardyce's departure and an opportunity has arisen.
"I've done a physiotherapy degree course at Salford University and have had five great years at Macclesfield, in addition to spells at Altrincham, Burnley and Oldham."
