A CONVICTED burglar has appeared back in court just four months after he was jailed for stealing a mobile phone from a garage.

Appearing at Bolton Crown Court via videolink from HMP Forest Bank, William Steele, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH).

The burglary charge relates to an incident on August 24 2020, when Steele, of Duke Street, Bolton, broke into an outhouse building at a property on Radcliffe Street, Bolton and tried to steal a bag of grass.

Steele also admitted assaulting Hitesh Patel on the same day the burglary took place.

In December 2019, Greater Manchester Police released an image of Steele after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Steele was due to make an appearance before the courts but did not show up to his hearing. Officers later attended reports of disturbance at an address on Bentley Street, Haulgh and when they arrived Steele made off and was found hiding in a bush.

In May this year he was sentenced to eight weeks behind bars for stealing a mobile phone.

He will appear again for sentencing at Bolton Crown Court on October 2.
