PROSPECTIVE home-owners can now take a look around brand-new homes at the Silkash estate in Westhoughton.

The development is Northstone's first, and is set to create 150 new homes off Bolton Road.

Offering two, three, and four-bedroom homes, the development is set to create around 160 jobs and apprenticeships over its duration.

The first two homes, showcasing the Ten50 three-bedroom and the Eleven65 four-bedroom options, opened for public viewings this weekend.

Craig Nutter, commercial director at Northstone, is impressed at how well the development's opening weekend has been.

He said: "It's rather different circumstances because of covid but all of our appointments were fully booked by Friday.

"Normally you would have 100 to 150 people through the door on an opening weekend.

"The nice thing with the appointments is that you get to spend some quality time with people one on one to give them the details and show off what makes the house special."

The new homes are highly energy-efficient, with features that could help reduce energy costs by up to 15 per cent.

By recycling heat from warm wastewater, higher efficiency for heating, and smart-household technology, each home will cost between £150 and £300 in gas and electricity each year – dependant on the size and use.

Mr Nutter added: "It's proved very successful, we had a soft opening last weekend for people who expressed their interest at the start and out of the 20 showing, 12 have ended with sales.

"We set the company up just short of two years ago and after spending so long designing the houses and getting everything ready to this point, it's so nice to see it in the flesh.

"The reactions we've had so far have been really warming, it's been fantastic."

Silkash homes start from £165,000, with the first phase of construction set to be finished next year.

Showings are appointment only due to the pandemic, and are limited to a specific number each day.
