An Audi was seized by police in Farnworth last night.
According to a post by Greater Manchester Police on social media, officers stopped the vehicle on Carlton Street at around 2am.
According to officers the driver was found to have no licence or insurance.
Greater Manchester Police said: "If you're going to borrow a friend's car and then lie to the police and pretend to be him, at least make sure he's bothered to tax the car and use the correct details.
"Stopped on Carlton Street, Farnworth. The driver of the Audi's story unravelled. No insurance and provisional licence so car seized."
