MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 12 weeks after he assaulted a woman and damaged her iPhone.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Stephen Courtney, aged 42, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the assault in May and the damage on August 1 after initially denying them.
The court heard that his offending was aggravated by his previous criminal record and, in addition to the jail sentence, he was ordered to pay £200 in compensation.
A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.
