A round-up of people who have been sentenced by magistrates recently

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 12 weeks after he assaulted a woman and damaged her iPhone.

Stephen Courtney, aged 42, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to committing the assault in May and the damage on August 1 after initially denying them.

In addition to the jail sentence, he was ordered to pay £200 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

A MAN has been fined £660 after he failed to tell police the identity of an Audi A3 driver alleged to have committed an offence.

The case against Mohammed Ahmed, aged 20, of Walker Avenue, Bolton, was proved and six points were added to his driving record.

A MAN smashed his way into a woman’s home and assaulted her next to a baby’s cot. Robin Yorke, aged 30, of Bolton Road, Kearsley, pleaded guilty to assault and using violence to gain entry to premises on August 18. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months and must participate in 20 days or rehabilitation activities and 80 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £150 compensation to his victim. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting her.

A TEENAGER has been referred to the youth offender panel for six months after he admitted twice driving vehicles without insurance or a licence. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, committed the offences in a Seat Leon on Crompton Way, Bolton, on May 30 and a VW Golf on Gargrave Avenue, Bolton, on July 6.

He was also banned from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

A MERCEDES driver who was caught drug driving has been banned from the roads for 12 months.

Aaron Greenhalgh, aged 32, of Perry Street, Darwen, was stopped driving a Mercedes C350 on Bolton Road, Kearsley, on November 16.

He tested positive for having taken cannabis and cocaine. Greenhalgh pleaded guilty to drug driving and was fined £200.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £500 after he drove an Audi on the M61 without due care and attention.

Layton Richardson, aged 23, of Woodsley Road, Bolton, admitted committing the offence on June 27 and also having no insurance.

He had nine penalty points added to his licence.

A MAN who seriously assaulted a woman has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Jesse Thomas, aged 23, of Redthorpe Close, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence, causing his victim actual bodily harm, on August 10.

He was ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

A MAN has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted damaging brickwork in Bolton on May 16.

Raymond Balogh, aged 28, of no fixed address, also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on July 11.

He was ordered to pay £311.36 in compensation to Bolton Council.
