THE FLYING Scotsman visited Bolton and Farnworth today - but disappointingly made a last-minute change of tracks, much to the ire of photographers and train-spotters.
The train came through Bolton at 10.25am, travelling from the East Lancashire Railway to Carnforth steam town to have some work done on it.
Annoyingly though, the classic train changed platforms at the last minute, denying visitors to the station an up close look at the vehicle.
However, Twitter user and train enthusiast @SkhTrains still managed to get a great shot of the legendary transport.
The Flying Scotsman was originally launched in 1862, to create a train service that ran from Edinburgh to London.
In 2004, the National Railway Museum saved the iconic locomotive from being sold abroad.
Since then the NRM workshop team has been hard at work carrying out a full overhaul of the locomotive which can be witnessed by visitors from the Museum's workshop balcony.
