TWO more patients have now died at the Royal Bolton Hospital after contracting coronavirus.

Official statistics released by Public Health England show that the deaths of one more patient on Tuesday, and another on Wednesday have been linked to covid-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, 263 patients at Royal Bolton Hospital have now died after contracting the virus.

An additional 151 cases of the virus were confirmed across the borough yesterday afternoon, bringing the total number of infections to 6,831.

The latest update came as Matt Hancock announced he is launching a “leak inquiry” into inaccurate information reported about which tier Greater Manchester would be put in to.

On Monday, MPs from the area were told the region would be put into Tier 2, with a review in four weeks.

Each day since, journalists from national media outlets have been told to expect a move into Tier 3.
