A 130-foot chimney which had dominated the skyline in Dunscar smoked for the last time as it was brought down to earth in 1988 to make way for luxury housing.
The chimney, at the former Wolstenholme Bronze Powders factory, was demolished in the traditional way with wooden supports being placed at the base then then set alight.
The chimney was part of Bolton’s industrial heritage being the last surviving stone-built mill chimney in the area.
