A TALENTED young artist got creative during lockdown to produce this award winning piece.
Bolton School sixth form student Emilie Fielding's striking portrait of a 'mushroom lady' has been chosen as a winner in The Horsefall's 2020 Art Competition, showing online and in a public exhibition at the iconic Horsfall Gallery.
Emilie was encouraged to enter by her art teachers because of her recent projects looking into portraiture and the artist Afarin Sajedi.
She said: 'Afarin Sajedi creates large, acrylic, surrealist portraits and so I decided on a large canvas to paint a portrait in the style of her work, which included changing the proportions of the face and painting in acrylic.'
Emilie received £100 of Fred Aldous vouchers and her piece has been included in an online and public exhibition.
She said: "I had never won an art competition before and so knowing I had won meant a lot to me, especially as the voucher could help go towards art supplies for after I leave school."
Emilie is one of six winners by the Horsfall creative agents.
