NO further deaths from coronavirus were recorded at the Royal Bolton Hospital yesterday, official figures released by NHS England reveal.

Over the last week a total of eight people have died at the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths there to 263 since the pandemic began earlier this year.

In the North West yesterday three people with the virus died in hospital, bringing the total number of deaths in the region to 5,383.

Figures also reveal that 162 people in Bolton yesterday tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of people in the borough known to have contracted the illness to 6,993 resulting in a cumulative rate of 2,431.9 per 100,000 of population.

Throughout the country yesterday 18,980 people tested positive for the virus, bringing the weekly total to 111,812 - up 10 per cent on the previous seven days.

On Thursday 138 people around the country died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test. This makes the weekly total 701, a massive increase of 79.7 per cent on numbers the previous week.
