A complex cannabis farm was found during police raids in Darwen as drugs reportedly with a street value of £90k.

Officers raided a property on Bolton Road on Friday afternoon and discovered more than 300 plants had been cultivated.

An Albanian man was charged with cannabis cultivation and will appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Monday.

Sgt Steve Dundon of Blackburn neighbourhood police said: "We were acting on community intelligence and attended an address on Bolton Road.

"On arrival a number of men ran from the address.

"One was arrested after jumping from a first floor window, following a short police chase.

"Several hundred plants were located throughout the address.

"We would like to thank the community for their continued helping tackling drug cultivation.

"Be under no illusion, this is organised crime.

"This illicit supply of drugs frequently leads to other criminality, violence and harm to health throughout communities and we will continue to take action and bring those involved to justice."

Police estimate there was also thousands of pounds worth of equipment and the electricity meter had been bypassed.
