A quirky beer made using Warburtons crumpets is back by popular demand.

The unusual beverage is made using wonky crumpets from the Bolton bakery which didn't make it to supermarket shelves.

It sold out in just five days when it was released earlier this year.

Darren Littler, innovation director at Warburtons, says: “We’re thrilled to announce the return of a brew made with crumpets, following the overwhelming response in February this year.

“We’re so happy to be able to use an innovative way of utilising our ‘wonky’ products whilst celebrating the nation’s love of crumpets in a whole new way.”

Toasted Crumpet IPA uses crumpets in place of malted barley and is part of Warburtons' aim of cutting down on food waste.Warburtons teamed up with London brewery Toast Ale to make it.

Louisa Ziane, chief operating officer at Toast Ale said: “We had such an amazing response when we first launched our crumpet beer, so we couldn’t be more excited to be back with a new crumpet brew.

“Our mission remains to brew beer that is planet-saving and palate-pleasing, and this brew does just that. As a British staple, they bring something hole-y different than our bread brewed beer, with a unique taste."
