AN inquest has opened into the death of a man whose body was found in Stoneclough.

Police coroners' officer Ben Dobbs said Albanian national Shkelqim Paja, 43, was married and worked as a waiter before his death on October 14.

At Bolton Coroners Court, Mr Dobbs told area coroner Alan Walsh that Mr Paja's body was found by a member of the public in a wooded area close to Fold Road in Stoneclough.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8.05am but Mr Paja, of Wolsey Street in Radcliffe, was pronounced dead at 8.22am.

He was identified using a driving licence found on his person.

A post-mortem examination carried out on October 16 found the provisional cause of death to be from hanging.

Mr Walsh said he would call Mr Paja's GP as a witness in order to further understand the state of his mental health.

The coroner said he also wished to hear from a representative of Fairfield Hospital in Bury, where Mr Paja had been treated in the days before his death.

The inquest was adjourned with a full hearing to take place at a later date.
