TALENTED young pianist Kingsley Sou is hitting all the right notes at the age of just 10-years-old.

The Beaumont Primary School pupil has achieved the top score in a musical examination which is equivalent to a GCSE music.

The youngster passed his Grade 5 music theory with distinction.

Kingsley is already a big hit with his school, regularly entertaining staff and pupils with his musical interludes, and is on-key to go further to become an exceptional musician.

He said: "I practise every night at home. Sometimes, I do not need the sheets of music in front of me because I can sit and play from memory. I really enjoy playing and I enjoy learning new pieces. When I feel ready, I then like to perform at school".

Kingsley last performance in school was of the Yimura's River Flows in You, featured in the Twilight films.

And his playing has inspired others to take up the instrument.

School's music subject leader, Kelly Sullivan, said: "Kingsley's talent and skills encourage children to take up playing instruments and this will help us as a school to shine through music. Music is key to happiness, whether you enjoy listening to music, dancing to music or learning an instrument to play music."

His dedication, style and music have encouraged and inspired one staff member to learn how play the piano herself.

Lindsey Heyes said: "From being young, I have always wanted to play the piano and hearing Kingsley inspired me to begin that musical journey. I started just over a year ago and I have taken my Grade One exam. I am thoroughly enjoying learning; it is great for my wellbeing and a focus for me also.”

Headteacher Stacey Postle added: "Kingsley’s class are so proud of him and are a great support and encouragement for him.

"Kingsley has been working hard for years to attain this level and entertains the school with his piano playing which the children and staff thoroughly enjoy. Kingsley’s last performance, River Flows In You, stunned the staff and children at school — this performance is still talked about amongst staff and children today."
