A TEENAGER convicted of almost two dozen crimes, including dangerous driving, riding an off-road motorbike, receiving stolen goods and damaging property has been sentenced to a 10 month detention and training

order.

At Manchester Youth Court the 17-year-old from Farnworth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to driving a VW Golf on Broadway, Farnworth, on December 23 without a licence or

insurance.

On May 8 he was also caught riding an off-road motorbike in breach of a criminal behaviour order, whilst banned from holding a licence and having no insurance. He denied committing the offences but was found guilty and breached the order again on September 23 by associating with another named teenager.

He also admitted receiving a stolen bank card on February 18 and the key for an Audi on February 15.

The order was breached again on October 16 and 22 when he was found inside vehicles and he admitted several offences of damaging windows and vehicles.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving - on Leigh Road, Salford, on October 22 in a Toyota and Highfield Road, Farnworth in a Kia on October 16, together with offences of driving whilst banned and no insurance.

Magistrates told the teenager that his offending, which amounted to a total of 21 crimes committed in just a few months, was so serious that only a detention order could be justified.

The court did not impose costs against him because of his limited means.
