STAFF and residents at Southlands Residential home in Breightmet are raising money for a new summer house.

The members are doing a sponsored walk this week.

Nicola Gwinnett works at the home and organised the walk.

She said: “We are walking back to happiness and saying good bye to loneliness. Covid-19 has really hit us hard emotionally and our relatives not being able to visit has been especially tough on our residents.

“We have remained Covid-19 free throughout the pandemic and the visiting restrictions have contributed towards this outcome but we must also focus on the mental health of all our residents and there families.”

Southlands staff and residents will collectively walk 1000 laps of the homes amazing grounds which totals 212,000 steps. Everyone will take part even those with mobility issues.
