A KITCHENS boss from Bolton has been banned for six years amid £1m riddles over the fate of his collapsed firm.

An investigation by the Insolvency Service into Kantaben Mawji and Wicks Trade Supplies found £1.13m had been paid out from the company's bank account before it went under in 2018.

And a further £1.12m was paid out to third parties between January 2017 and October 2018.

But Mawji, 62, of Regents Hill, Lostock, had failed to maintain adequate accounting records for the Little Hulton based outfit.

He has now given an undertaking not to be involved in the formation or promotion of any company until September 2026.

Insolvency officials found at least £60,200 had been withdrawn in cash from the WTS bank account, £202,184 had been handed to associated ventures, £83,222 had gone on wages and commissions and another £48,500 in loans and payments.

An inquiry also failed to detemine whether WTS and Majwi owed any tax or VAT revenue to HM Revenue and Customs.
