Arrests have been made after a car was seen reversing into another vehicle in a Blackburn street.

The incident, captured on video, happened on Sunday at the bottom of New Bank Road and shows a white Mercedes being driven past a group of men.

It then reverses back and hits a black car. Driving forward again, it reverses and hits the car again narrowly missing the group.

The group can be seen gesturing towards the driver earlier.

Police said two people were arrested following a later disturbance at Crompton Place which they believe was linked to the incident.

One 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon. A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicious of dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for police said: “We were called around 4.15pm yesterday (Sunday, November 8) to reports of a disturbance at an address in Crompton Place, Blackburn.

“Officers attended and arrested a man and boy at the scene.

“The arrests were linked to an earlier incident in New Bank Road where a car was reportedly seen colliding with other vehicles before it was driven away.

“A 41-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon, with a 17-year-old boy from Blackburn arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. Both are currently in custody.”

A witness who did not wish to be named said at the time, “I saw a grown man talking to some kids and then he sped his car towards them. He moved forward and reversed back into a car this time whilst someone was sitting inside.

“He moved forward and ran into the car for the second time. People at the scene were screaming and I was quite shaken myself after what I saw.”
