WARNINGS have been issued over a new scam text message which asks people to check a new payee’s details.
Police have urged people to be careful after fraudsters started texting people, pretending to be from HSBC.
The scammers claim a new payee has been added to your account, asking victims to press a link to view the details.
Officers have urged people not to follow the link inside the text, as this could leave you open to being defrauded.
People are encouraged to head directly to their bank or service provider and log into their account through the main website if they are concerned and would like to check their account.
Forward any suspicious texts, emails, or messages to report@phishing.gov.uk to alert police to new scams.
