FOOTBALL fan Andrew Dickson got a shock when the man delivering his charity Christmas cards turned out to be Wanderers legend John McGinlay.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Dickson family were forced to order their usual cards and advent calender from Bolton Hospice online.
But Andrew was astonished when the free-scoring Scot, who found the back of the net over a hundred times for Wanderers, turned up at his door in his role as a volunteer with the charity.
Andrew said: “We ordered the cards and we were amazed that they were being hand delivered just a few days later and an even bigger surprise was when we saw that the delivery boy was ‘Super’ John McGinlay.”
John, who has been volunteering at Bolton Hospice for over three years, added: “I am really enjoying driving round and meeting people and it saves the hospice the postage money.”
