TV presenter Vernon Kay has certainly had a taste of just how ghoulish the new ‘I’m A Celeb...’ show can be.
The Bolton-born star munched on sheep brains, cow’s teat and deer testicles as ‘Frights of the Round Table’ replaced the traditional bushtucker trial on the ITV serial.
He remarked that the brains “tasted like really bad pate”, the teat was akin to “mouldy cheese mixed with burnt tyre rubber” and while he failed to stomach one of the deer’s gonads first time around, he chewed it down moments later.
Vernon, with Radio One DJ and ex-Coronation Street actor Beverley Callard, managed to chomp their way through every course to secure 10 stars, and 10 meals, for their camp-mates.
Other dishes on the menu included fermented plums for Beverley and a sheep’s penis for Jordan.
And unlike the disappointment of Monday night, when Jordan and Shane Richie’s efforts in the Viper Vault earned them an eel to cook, the camp was treated to quails with garlic as their trial reward.
