MORE than 80 fines have been issued by police this past weekend for coronavirus breaches across Greater Manchester.

Police chiefs have condemned those who continue to flout Covid-19 restrictions.

One party at an industrial unit in Mary Street in Manchester saw officers have to break through locked doors before 17 revellers were issued with fixed penalty notices.

Another gathering in Gorton saw party-goers sprawled out in the street.

Assistant Chief Constable Nick Bailey said: "These parties are a blatant disregard of the rules and pose a significant health risk to all those involved and the rest of the communities in Greater Manchester.

"The world is currently facing a public health crisis and breaking such regulations is simply against the law and selfish."

An estimated 600 plus fines have been handed out since November 2.
