A DRIVER was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after officers spotted him circling the Brandwood Road area of Deane.

Police asked the driver of the Vauxhall Astra to stop on Sunday shortly at around 4pm and discovered the car to be on false plates.

It was found that the driver had no licence or insurance, and had cannabis on them.

The driver tested positive for cannabis and officers arrested them on suspicion of drug driving and fiving without a licence or insurance.

The car was then seized.

Greater Manchester Police said: "A Vauxhall Astra was followed by officers from the transport unit due to the manner of driving, having been observed circling the area a number of times.

"When the officer requested the vehicle to stop the driver initially refused to stop and then eventually stopped a short time later on Brandwood Road in Deane.

"The vehicle was found to be on false plates and the driver had no licence or insurance in place. The driver was also searched and found to have cannabis on them.

"They were subsequently drug wiped and tested positive for cannabis and was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs, without a licence/insurance and the vehicle was seized."
