- Eltiona Skana, aged 30, of Ernest Street, Bolton, used a craft knife to slit Emily's throat and her injury was not survivable.
- Skana denies murder but has admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
- The prosecution claim that she is hiding behind the diagnosis and had planned to kill.
