A PREGNANT salon owner is looking forward to a busy run-up to Christmas after opening her new business on Bradshawgate.

Christiane Kemayou was hoping to open BlessCK last month but the latest lockdown measures scuppered her chances.

But following the relaxing of lockdown and the reopening of shops and hairdressing salons, the expectant mother has now finally launched her venture which occupies part of the old Flying Flute pub building in Bolton town centre.

“It has been very hard,” said Christiane, who is due to give birth in January. “We stayed at home and there was just no income.”

Hairdressers and barbers were only allowed to reopen on July 4, when people could get their hair seen to for the first time in three months.

But the second lockdown meant all non-essential retail had to close in England, including hairdressers, salons and barbers.

“We have made so many changes,” said Christiane, who has set up the business with husband Patrick. “You have to wear a mask and keep your distance.

“We’ll be providing a barber, a hairdresser, make-up, sunbeds and body and facial treatment and we’re also selling hair products like hair extensions.”

Wez Lowe will be employed as the salon’s barber with Thea Stafford taking care of women’s hair, with the pair saying they can’t wait to get cutting.
