Traffic patrols had a busy day on Bolton's roads on Wednesday - stopping cars for tinted windows, illegal modifications and even giving chase to a suspected drugs deal car.

Police stopped a VW Transporter on Wigan Road at around 11am which had illegal plates at the front and to the rear.

The vehicle was found to have tints on the front windows only letting 24per cent of light through,

This is far below the legal requirement which allowing 70per cent of light through.

Officers gave the driver a Traffic Offence Report and a roadworthiness prohibition.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Patrols just stopped a VW Transporter on Wigan Road Bolton.

"Illegal plates front and rear and a check of the van's tints on the front windows revealed only 24per cent of light being allowed through.

"TOR issued and PG9. Driver removed tints at roadside and was able to carry on his journey."

Officers pursued a Nissan Micra at midday which was suspected to be involved in a drug deal in Halliwell.

The car was abandoned and police seized the vehicle, enquiries are ongoing.

Police said: "This Micra was seen involved in a drug deal in Halliwell.

"It would initially make off from police and was then pursued by officers where it took to hill climbing it's way towards Victory Street and would then be abandoned.

"The car was seized and enquiries ongoing."

Finally officers came across a Vauxhall Corsa on Wigan Road with blue tinted side lights at approximately 6pm.

The driver was stopped and issued with a Traffic Offence Report.

Police said: "If you want a car with blue lights in then join the police.

"Don't modify your Corsa and pretend you're the Sweeney.

"Driver was stopped by police on Wigan Road, Bolton. Traffic Offence Report issued."
