BOLTON is set to be hit with cold weather as we head into the weekend - meaning snow is likely

It's worth grabbing some layers today as temperatures aren't expected to reach any higher than 4C, with showers set to turn wintry during the day.

On Friday it won't be any warmer than 3C, with the 'feels like' temperature a rather chilly -2C.

Forecasting for the North West, the Met Office said: "A cloudy day, with morning fog patches and scattered showers.

"These showers turning wintry at times with hill snow. A few drier spells developing throughout the day.

"During the night it will remain cloudy with further outbreaks of rain and wintry precipitation. Falling as snow over high ground. A risk of fog patches and a morning frost."

Predicting weather for Friday, forecasters said: "Outbreaks of rain, wintry showers and hill snow during Friday with some drier spells.

"Remaining largely cloudy with occasional clearer spells during the evening. A risk of fog patches."
