Taken in 1983, this aerial photograph shows one of Blackburn’s most popular shopping destinations at the time.
In the centre of the picture is Tommy Ball’s, the discount shoe store that saw people travel for miles to grab a bargain.
It was certainly a busy day with the car park full and cars parked on the cleared land off Higher Audley Street which would eventually become housing.
Ciceley Lane leads down over both the canal and railway and top left you can make out the bus shelters of the Boulevard.
