A MAN has gone on trial accused of grabbing a 13-year-old girl's breast as she played in the street with a friend.

A jury at Bolton Crown Court heard how the teenager was playing on a Segway with a pal in Breightmet on the evening of January 22 when Zlabys Mantyvydas sexually assaulted her.

Wayne Jackson, prosecuting, said: "There was no conversation between them. She shouted to her friend.

"He ran off and she phoned her dad."

In an interview with police the schoolgirl told how 25-year-old Mantyvydas, complained that he had touched her before and, on one occasion last year, picked her up and tried to take her into his house.

On January 22 she said she and her friend were taking five minute turns on the Segway.

As her pal was using the machine, she saw him, as he passed her friend and walked in front of her before sexually assaulting her under her clothing.

"He walked past her and walked up to me and touched my boob," said the girl.

"When I shouted he ran off."

The teenager's father contacted police and Mantyvydas, of Woodlands Road, Bolton, was arrested.

The jury was told that Mantyvydas denies sexually assaulting the girl.

"His account, summarised in simple terms, was that he was not present at the location and time suggested and that he, therefore, could have not sexually assaulted her," said Mr Jackson.

"He denied ever touching her breast for sexual gratification and denied that he was in any way sexually attracted to her."

The trial continues.
