With just a week to go until the government is set to review what tiers different areas of England will be in for Christmas, we can reveal the neighbourhoods with the highest coronavirus infections rates across the region.
Using data from an interactive heatmap on the Government website reflecting the growth of the virus in neighbourhoods across the county, we can see how every area of the country is doing controlling the spread of the virus.
The latest data shows the number of cases reported in a seven-day period up to December 4.
The area with the highest rate in the North-East is Newton Hall and Brasside in North Durham with 621.2 cases per 100,000. The total number of cases recorded over the seven day period was 51 - a whopping 75.9% rise.
It is followed by Fellgate and Hedworth in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, which has a rate of 480 per 100,000. There were 26 cases recorded, up 44%.
The third highest rate was recorded in Pity Me and Framwellgate Moor, just next to Newton Hall and Brasside in North Durham. There were 457 cases per 100,000 and 29 cases recorded - up an astonishing 625%.
The North-East neighbourhood with the fourth highest rate of infection was Fulwell in Sunderland, which had a rate of 452 cases per 100,000, followed by Clavering in Hartlepool, which had a rate of 399 cases per 100,000.
