MEGABUS are to lay on extra services from cities including Manchester in the run up to Christmas to ensure people can travel home safely.
Supported by the Department for Transport, the coach company are able to offer extra seats from major cities across the country.
From December 23 to 27 5,600 additional seats will be made available.
Around half of the coach firm's previously available seats throughout December have already sold out as demand has spiked.
Megabus are urging people to book ahead.
Passengers are expected to wear a face covering unless exempt, sanitise their hands regularly and maintain social distancing.
Mark Venables, managing director for Megabus, said: “Direct and high frequency intercity coaches are an increasingly popular travel choice and this year in particular, they will play a vital role in helping families and friends to be reunited for Christmas."
Megabus will operate throughout the festive period, including on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
