A MAN was stabbed and another man had his car stolen in a terrifying attack in Westhoughton – as police hunt for two suspects.

Police were sent to Wigan Road after two men, both aged 22, were approached by two thugs, who threatened them with a knife.

One of the victims was then stabbed before the two offenders left the scene in the other victim's black Renault Clio, driving towards Cricketers Way.

The man who was stabbed was taken to hospital for a minor injury but he was later discharged.

The shocking attack happened just after after 7.45pm on Wednesday, December 9.

No arrests have been made as Greater Manchester Police (GMP) investigate.

Descriptions of the suspects have been released.

A GMP spokesman said: "Shortly after 7.45pm on Wednesday, December 9, police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed and another man had his car stolen on Wigan Road, Westhoughton.

"Officers attended the scene and established two men – aged 22 – were approached by two offenders and threatened with a knife.

"One of the victims was stabbed before the offenders made off in the other victim's black Renault Clio in the direction of Cricketers Way, Westhoughton.

"The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for a minor injury and was later released.

"The first offender is described as 6ft, mixed race, of medium build and wearing dark clothing.

"The second offender is described as 6ft, white, slim build and wearing dark clothing.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
