A NEW TV series that features one of Bolton's most iconic streets is set to hit the small screen in the new year.

It's A Sin, which explores the Aids epidemic in the 1980s, is set to appear on Channel 4 – with Le Mans Crescent being used in a dramatic scene in the show.

A one-minute trailer has been released by the broadcaster, featuring prominent scenes and showing the characters that the series will follow.

The show tells the story of three gay teenage boys who start a new life in London and follows their journey through rejection, prejudice, and the AIDS epidemic.

In October 2019, Le Mans Crescent, which is very popular among filmmakers, was transformed to look like London in the 1980s for the series.

Olly Alexander, lead singer from the band Years & Years, and newcomers Omari Douglas and Callum Scott Howells play the three boys, Ritchie, Roscoe, and Colin.

More than 20 people were filmed for the scene in the town centre last year, with protesters coming off a bus and pulling signs out the back of a car.

People were also spotted with white t-shirts reading "AIDS needs aid!"

Signs with “fight AIDS not gays”, “RIP killed by the system” and “Blood on your hands blazenhensher” were all spotted.

Parts of the protest scene are included in the TV series' trailer.

The series also stars Stephen Fry, Neil Patrick Harris, and Keeley Hawes.

Crews for the show also filmed at a house on Joseph Street in Darwen last year.

Location scouts had been touring the estate beyond St Peter’s Church in the town for some time before making the decision.

It will be appearing on Channel 4 for the first time on Friday, January 22.
