ONE more person in Bolton is reported to have died with coronavirus today and a further 84 people in the town are recorded as testing positive for the virus.

Latest figures released this evening show that in the last seven days there have been 15 deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19 within the last 28 days, five more than in the previous week.

The number of people in the borough known to have become infected recently has also increased slightly.

Over the last seven days 427 people have received positive test results, up by two on the previous week. The infection rate in the borough now stands at 158.6 per 100,000 of population — still well below the UK national average of 374.5.

Admissions to hospital locally are also increasing slightly. The latest figures released show that 10 people with coronavirus were admitted to hospital on December 10, bringing the total to 54 for the period December 14 to 20.

Nationally, the number of people needing hospital admissions is climbing rapidly. In the seven days to December 20 14,024 people were admitted, an increase of 16.5 percent on the previous week.
