POLICE who stopped a car because of its speed immediately detected the strong smell of cannabis.
Blackburn magistrates heard Ahmed Chaka admitted straight away that he had just smoked a joint and went on to provide a positive blood test.
Chaka, 24, of Palatine Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to drug driving. He was fined £120 with £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 12 months.
Gareth Price, defending, said his client had smoked some cannabis while “chilling” with a friend.
“He admitted what he had done straight away and could not have been more co-operative,” said Mr Price.
