POLICE were called after a man outstayed his welcome at his girlfriend's house.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jonathan Spence had got drunk and as she was ushering him out of her house trapped his fingers in the door.

Spence, 39, of Albion Street, Clitheroe, was convicted in his absence of being drunk and disorderly in Brunshaw Avenue, Burnley. He was fined £220 with £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Samantha Hayward, prosecuting, said when police arrived at the address they had to take hold of Spence to stop him falling over he was so drunk.

The householder told them he had been staying with her for a couple of days but had got drunk and became argumentative.

"She managed to get him to the door, where he trapped his fingers, but he remained outside," said Miss Hayward.

"The police persuaded him to leave the area but he returned later in the day and started banging on the door and this time he was arrested."
